Gavin is a North Carolina licensed professional mechanical engineer with 30 years of engineering experience, 3 years of which were spent implementing a Creo based design system for a machinery manufacturer. Prior to that, he worked as a technical gas services rep for the gas company and as engineering manager at an OEM machinery company. Since starting his engineering company, Solid Engineering, in 1997, he as worked with clients from around the country in industry segments such as fiberglass, tires, plate glass, various industrial equipment OEM's, food production, furniture, hydro services, aerospace and building products. He has always used computer based technologies and in 2007 added an IT services division to his company. He has been involved with the operation of the Pro/Users of the Carolinas regional users group since 2003. As a native of the Pacific North West, his hobbies include backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing and fishing.
Jarrod joined Solid Engineering in May of 2015 after graduating from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was also an engineering intern at Solid Engineering while in college for 3 summers beginning in 2012. At North Carolina State he took a special interest in solid mechanics as well as hands on fabrication. Some notable projects that he has worked on at Solid Engineering include designing a nuclear canister upender, mist eliminator modeling for industrial steam processes, and modification to a hydropower dam boring bar. In March of 2021 he acquired his PE license for the state of North Carolina. His hobbies include attending drag racing events and restoring classic automobiles with a special interest in classic Volkswagens.
